Microfiche

This is a compact storage media system consisting of a card or a sheet of microfilms which succinctly preserves whole pages of information in a printed text format. It is an analog storage media used extensively in the search of genealogy and family history. The capacity of each microfiche card is almost a hundred to one-hundred and thirty pages depending on the size of the original material. This saves space and keeps the expense of record preservation and maintenance relatively low.

Microfiche offers as high as five hundred years of stable archival life. In the process of family history search, many libraries use microfiche that store data from the books and journals of genealogy to to preserve records for generations and generations to come.
