The International Genealogical Index (IGI) allows genealogy researchers access to a treasure trove of valid documented information stored on microfilm. It comprises a huge database of genealogical records accumulated from various sources. This index is maintained by LDS (Mormon) church.
Organized at the close of the 1960's it offers information that was provided by LDS members and other interested family history researchers and also includes microfilmed material from many other valid record keeping sources.
This vast index contains tens of thousands of records of people who lived between 1500 and 1900 mainly in U.S.A, Europe, and Canada. It is available on the internet for all those who are interested.
